Shinichi Kato

Shinichi Kato grew up in a family of music.
His parents are both jazz musicians.
He began to play the guitar at the age of 13.

After Guraduated high school, Shinichi moved to Kobe
in 2001 for Koyo Conservatory of Music,
where he studied jazz guitar, harmony, and arranging.

In 2003, He received a scholarship from Berklee College of Music.
In 2004 He moved to Boston for Berklee to pursue his musical education
through numerous genres of music including Jazz, Funk, Latin, etc.
He studied with many well known professional musicians, such as Rick Peckham
John Wilkins, Randy Roos, and Jim Kelly.

Influenced by the Meters, John Scofield, Medeski Martin and Wood,
Shinichi began to absorb those influences into an original style of his own.

After Berklee he moved to Tokyo and has been playing at music venues.
